A Winter Wonderland Wedding
Baby it’s cold outside, but the wedding inside is so delightful! While planning a winter wedding can cause stress due to the uncontrollable weather, you never know if you will have a sleet storm, blizzard, sunshine, etc. Some people like Becca and Sam totally embraced the thought of the romantics of a winter wedding. They planned for the worse and hoped for the best. Mother nature actually delivered the best possible outcome. A soft gentle snow had fallen the night before casting a wonderful white sleepy blanket over the land. The Osthoff Resort in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin looked like a magical backdrop for their photos.
Baby It’s Cold Outside started with their engagement session. They chose the setting of the stone quarry where Sam was working at the time. The quarry was full of icicles cascading down the walls of rock, the ponds frozen over. The weather was frigid to say the least! Becca and Sam didn’t even seem to notice or care, they were so excited for the engagement session. As usual with Becca, we laughed a lot. But Baby it was cold outside!!
December 29, 2019 like I mentioned before Mother Nature was splendid, the day was actually as balmy as you can expect for December in Wisconsin. We were able to capture so many wonderful moments outdoors amongst the beautiful snow dropped landscape.
When we entered Becca’s room, we were greeted by excitement, laughter and a great deal of chatter amongst the bridesmaids, Becca and her mom. Becca was exuberant, bursting with excitement and energy. As she stepped into her wedding dress, her smile was even bigger, she looked smashingly radiant!
Ryan went to greet Sam, who was a bit nervous, however completely ready to see is bride. He looked very handsome in his fancy boots (a gift from Becca)! He stood anxiously waiting to see Becca at the “First Glance”. As Becca tapped him on the shoulder, his anxiousness disappeared, his smile broadened, and he turned to see his bride for the first time. The “First Glance” is such an intimate, special time for the bride and groom, sometimes it’s the only time they get to be alone for the entire day (even though we are present to photograph the moment). They hugged, kissed and shed a few tears. They talked excitedly about the day that lie ahead of them.
As the guest arrived, the warm glow of the wedding set in. Sam escorted his parents down the aisle, then took his place in the front to wait for Becca. Becca with her arm through her dad’s walked down the aisle to Sam. A few tears, a few nervous smiles, the father of the bride is always in a bittersweet state of mind. He was Becca’s first love, now he was giving her to another. Such a heartwarming moment. Sam and Becca joined hands and proceeded to the officiant. As Becca and Sam said “I Do”, I like to watch the parents reaction. As a parent myself, I know their minds are full of memories; the day their child was born, the first day of school, first baseball game, or soccer game, homecoming, prom, graduation day, college, and now marrying the one they have fallen in love with, so many emotions flow through your mind. Baby It’s Warm Inside!
Let the festivities begin, and they surely did! Glasses were raised, toasts were given, secrets were spilled, tears were shared, hugs abounded. Feet were kicked up on the dance floor, the bouquet was tossed, the garter thrown, it was a magical evening!
Baby it’s cold outside, but Becca and Sam’s hearts are warm and cozy! Ryan and I thank you for allowing us to be part of another Doyle wedding. We wish you all the laughter and love your hearts can hold!
